Sahaj & Arti love fashion. No, they really love fashion. So when it was time to brainstorm ideas for their toronto engagement session, we decided to capture them in their suave element at a chic French bistro, located in downtown Toronto. We figured this would best complement their personalities and who they are as modern, swashbuckling, young professionals around town. chic toronto engagement session, chic toronto engagement photos.

Who doesn’t love french macarons? Drool…

From a photography perspective, there was one thing unique about this shoot: we used our medium format Contax 645 camera with the 80mm f/2 Zeiss lens.

Shooting on Fuji 400h film brought out the texture and colours that we feel best represent our style of photography: light, airy, classic and timeless. So below are a combination of our film scans, unedited (!) and a few photos we shot on our beloved digital Nikons that didn’t make it on the Wedluxe blog, but we thought we’d share with you anyway.

“Drink wine, it’s what remains of the harvest of youth — the season of roses and wine and drunken friends. Be happy for this moment, this moment is your life,”

The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam

Sherana and Chris’ Grand Empire Reception was faithful to its name: it was grand, intimate, elegant and beautiful. We began the day with their getting ready photos at their respective homes, capturing the details which will accompany them through the day: his watch, her veil, his shoes, her bouquet, earrings and the shimmering bracelet.

Sherana added a poignant touch by placing a photograph of her grandmother inside of a small window on her bouquet, which you can see below. We felt it was a touching way to ensure her grandmother never left her side.

A special mention to Noor from Noor Artistry for the hair and make-up! Noor is not only fantastic at what she does, but is also a fabulous person! She’s invaluable to have in your corner on your wedding day.

We then headed to Chinguacousy Park in Brampton for a photo session before the reception. Their bridal party joined in the fun shortly after 🙂

Grand Empire reception events always deliver a space in which the bride and groom can get pretty creative with the decor, and this day was no exception. The elegant decor had an all-white foundation with drapes and luminescent crystals, with bursts of Sherana’s favourite pink, and a dash of green.

And yes, florals do make everything awesome.

Today we have Sherana and Chris’ awesome, rustic Evergreen Brickworks Engagement Shoot for you! The Don Valley Brickworks is a fantastic location in the east-end of Toronto for weddings, engagement sessions and an all-around great day out. With wide open indoor and outdoor spaces, it offers a variety of options to get really creative with photography. The vibe is both modern and industrial, with hanging art installations and grafitti walls gracing the now-defunct brick-making plant (called The Kilns) creating an atmosphere encouraging imagination.

You may remember Sherana and Chris from our blog, as we featured their gorgeous indian wedding day, which you can also view here. It goes without saying, she looks beautiful no matter what she wears: girl’s got style 🙂 And really, my heart seems to be wrapped in tulle, I simply love it when our brides incorporate tulle into their shoots in some way.

… mais oui, everything is definitely possible with balloons.

Sweety and Sangev chose the manicured Victorian hedges as a location for their Guelph engagement shoot. A quiet getaway from the bustle of Toronto, we had a beautiful, serene time photographing these two in love. They chose one of these images as a matted frame to place in front of their reception, which will also be coming up on the blog 😉
