A Sangeet that doubled as a cocktail party at Riviera Event Space in Vaughan, Ontario.
A Sangeet, if you’re unfamiliar with this type of event, is a musical pre-wedding event which precedes the wedding day (Sangeet literally means music in Hindi). It often acts as a mini-reception, and is usually a raucous occasion, replete with song and dance, as it’s the first big event in a series of events leading up to the big Indian wedding day.
Before the evening began, we got a chance to do some wonderful portraits of the bride & groom. We found our slice of minimalism in this small piece of a white wall outside the main hall at Riviera Event Space, with a burst of our favourite tone of green from a cactus acting as a fine counterbalance in the scene.
We loved the spring-themed decor, with blooms of white florals adorning Gatsby-inspired golden arches providing a great focal point for this room in Riviera Event Space.
The stage and backdrop served as a perfect backdrop for their couple portraits.
Yes, any chance we get, we try to squeeze in a twirl-shot of a lengha or dress 😍
This Sangeet night was sort of a mini-reception, with speeches, performances, and a popping dancefloor.
The penultimate performance was a fabulous dance by the bride and her support team.
As the evening reached its crescendo, the spotlight shifted to the center of the room where the couple put on a performance for the ages, in front of a backdrop of sparklers.
Uh, yeah, we have a sweet tooth. And this dessert table was de-lish!
A huge thanks to the wonderful Susan from Beyoutiful Beginnings, who planned all the events for Ajita & Prannay, and whom we love to work with.
