We’re thrilled to share that Swathi & Vikul’s Michigan Indian wedding was recently featured on Maharani Weddings — a celebration that beautifully reflected their quiet personalities, heritage, and modern vision. Although the couple resides in California, they chose Michigan for their wedding to be close to family, for its vibrant Indian wedding community and stunning venues — creating the perfect location for their unforgettable, multi-day festivities.

A Traditional Telugu South Indian Hindu Ceremony at The Meridian, Farmington Hills
The celebrations began with a traditional Telugu South Indian Hindu ceremony at The Meridian in Farmington Hills, one of Michigan’s premier luxury event spaces. Rooted in sacred rituals and cultural symbolism, the ceremony was a moving expression of family, love, and legacy. Golden pillars, lush greenery, vibrant banana leaves, and delicate floral accents lined the aisle with divine elegance, transforming The Meridian into a sacred haven.
We began the day at dawn, starting with their getting ready photos in the Bridal Suite at the venue, with Swathi bringing all the energy and grace only a bride can bring at sunrise.

The early morning light was absolutely perfect for their portraits, the stillness that accompanies that time of day allowing Swathi & Vikul to enjoy some quiet moments together before the festivities got under way.

“Love is a familiar stranger — sometimes comforting, sometimes puzzling, but always binding in its quiet insistence.” — Interpreter of Maladies, Jhumpa Lahiri.

The baraat, replete with the ceremonial horse, snaked its way from the back of The Meridian to the front, with a raucous crowd led by DJ Ice & Fresh Productions. (In fact, we can’t wait to share even more dancing photos on our social media channels, more than what we can fit into this blog post!)

Ornate Structures & Banana Leaves for their Telugu Hindu Ceremony Decor at The Meridian
Golden pillars, lush greenery, vibrant banana leaves, and delicate floral accents lined the aisle with divine elegance, transforming The Meridian into a sacred haven. Utsav Planners, Inc. brought this vision to life with their signature flair for traditional South Asian aesthetics. From the ornate mandap that radiated temple-like grandeur to the thoughtful placement of every petal and palm, their floral and décor mastery created an atmosphere that felt both majestic and personal. Reach out to them for any decor ideas and needs if you’re planning your Michigan Indian Wedding.

The Importance of A Wedding Planner for South Asian Weddings
The role of a wedding planner cannot be overstated. And we love working with Marigold, one of the premier designers and planners for Michigan Indian Weddings. Seamlessly orchestrating the entire celebration from start to finish was the brilliant team at Marigold Wedding Planners. With precision, heart, and a sixth sense for managing wedding day chaos, they flawlessly executed every detail across two venues. Whether it was coordinating the transitions between events or making sure every ritual flowed on cue overall, their dedication was the glue holding the weekend together.

Finally, with the ceremony wrapped up, we had some fun with the newly-married bride and groom, with their post-ceremony portraits outside.
